He swore he’d be a better man than his father. He held her at a distance to protect her. He broke all his promises to keep her.
Chaz Latimer is a six foot two and three-quarters hunk of gorgeous with a brilliant mind, looks to kill, and a flourishing dot com start-up business. He’s also got enough baggage from his childhood to sink a ship. After a childhood spent chasing the love and attention of his absentee father, Chaz swore he’d never put his own family through what he’d endured. If he wanted success, he’d have to achieve it first. Then he could focus on love and family.
And it was all going according to plan until the day Chaz met Carrie Manning, a vivacious, gentle-hearted southern peach living in the heart of New York City. If she could just wait for him, he’d give her everything she ever wanted. But was he asking too much? Carrie seemed to think so.
Then a Christmas gift is dropped off on his doorstep. A baby. His baby. A baby with no interest in his five-year plan. A baby who inadvertently will destroy any chance to reconcile with Carrie.
His Gift is the seventh and final book in the contemporary romance series Bad, Bad Boys! written by USA Today bestselling author Day Leclaire. Fair warning! This story includes broken hearts, a baby left on a doorstep, and smoldering hot romance. If you're looking for a story featuring bold, passionate men and the women captivated by them, then keep reading!
Look Inside
Look Inside
"It’s Christmas Eve, Carrie. Spend it with me. Please.”
He didn’t give her a chance to refuse. He simply pulled her into his arms again, just as he had earlier that day. He kissed her. And just like earlier that day, she melted. Her lips parted and she sighed. He inhaled the gentle sound, breathed her in. She tasted like Christmas and the advent of spring all rolled into one. She smelled of sunshine and daffodils, Christmas wreaths and mulled cider. And she felt warm as a sunny day and soft as a snowflake on eyelashes.
“Stay,” he murmured against her mouth. “Stay for Christmas.”
Carrie surrendered. She was lost, lost in a blizzard of heat and passion and uncontrollable need. The rational portion of her brain—a teeny-tiny portion—set off warning bells. But for some reason they sounded like the silver bells in Christmas songs, full of seasonal cheer and joy. Yes, joy. That’s what she felt in Chaz’s arms. Sheer, unadulterated joy.
Without a word, he swept her into his arms and carried her to the couch. They tumbled, arms and legs intertwined, wrapped together like one of the presents under the tree. All they needed was a bright red ribbon to finish the job.
He found her mouth, ravished it. And she let him. Encouraged him. Parted her lips and met each delicious thrust with a teasing parry. She couldn’t even find it within her to protest when his hands skated along the silky length of her dress. He cupped her breasts, running his thumbs across the tips until he’d teased them into rigid peaks. Her gasp caught in her throat and became a moan.
He tore his mouth free and strung a series of light kisses along the length of her neck and into the vulnerable hollow at the base of her throat. His hands began to roam again, finding the hem of her abbreviated dress and slipping beneath. He feathered his fingertips along the sensitive skin between knee and thigh, causing the heat to pump to nearly unbearable levels. He found the seam at the tops of her thighs and traced it, edging her panties aside and slipping inward. Then he cupped her, dipping a single finger inside.
She literally went deaf and blind. It had been so long, so hideously, desperately long. She clenched around him, wrapped her legs tight about his waist, wanting more than this tantalizing foreplay. She wanted Chaz. She wanted him inside of her. She wanted every bit of him possessing her in that wild dance they’d perfected during their months together. She’d never known love could be like that. But something happened whenever she found herself in this man’s arms. It was like being granted every possible Christmas wish all in one glorious instant.
He must have felt the same way because he groaned. “It’s not enough. It’s not anywhere near enough. You know what we want. What we need. Give it to me, Carrie. Don’t shut me out again.”
“I won’t. I can’t.”
She kissed him frantically, crazed, urgent kisses. He eased his hand out from beneath her skirt and she thought she’d scream in frustration. Until she heard the delicious sound of his zipper being released.
“Hurry,” she urged. “Please, hurry!”
